Some thoughts of our Fallen Brother after he passed... |
Good morning gentlemen,
As all of you know, one of our brothers has passed on serving his country in the Iraq War. Lt. Oscar Jimenez of the Marine Core was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend of whoever has had the pleasure of meeting him. Even moreover for those who were lucky enough to spend some time with Oscar. He was always confident, he was always smiling, and he always had your back. What makes his passing so sad, was that he really was such a great man which everyone respected and admired. I've never heard one bad comment regarding Oscar. At his funeral yesterday, people and Marines from all over the country flew in for his funeral to pay respect to a man who has helped better their lives. Seeing these Marines cry was proof that Oscar was much more to them then just another soldier, he was their brother. I've had the pleasure of hearing some of these stories on how Oscar bettered their lives and taught them how to survive in the Marine Core and in life. One Marine, who was with Oscar's convoy when they were ambushed was seriously hurt during the battle and is confined to the hospital at this time receiving surgery after surgery for his paralyzed arm. Against the doctor's orders and in pain he attended Oscar's funeral, he felt he owed him that much for saving his life. He told of how they were ambushed. They were heavily out numbered 50 to 15, and it was Oscar's quick thinking and orders to the men which got them out of there and saved not some but every one of their lives. Unfortunately in doing so, he gave up his own being the only fatality in his convoy from this almost massacre. Oscar would always volunteer for the most dangerous missions and was trusted by his subordinates and superiors alike to be able to successfully carry them through. For his heroics, Oscar received the Purple Heart. Oscar was our brother Alpha Class, Zeta Chapter and with his family, Marines, full-time work, and full-time school; he still made time for us. I honestly don't think he slept very much being so committed to so many people. Oscar Jimenez is survived by his wife and three children, one daughter age 15 and two sons 4 and 6yrs. Sincerely, Brother of the Zeta Chapter Brothers, Today is a sad day in fact, Oscar Jimenez is my Lil Bro. I introduced him to the fraternity back when we used to work together at SDSU. I would like to share my condolence and support for the Jimenez Family, if someone can find out where we can send any monetary support for expenses needed, please forward them. This really is not a good day, we have lost one of our great brothers, a real hero! God bless him and his family. Zeta Chapter FF Read this. Sorry for the big dark cloud fellas. I'm speechless.......
